Karen L. Brown was raised on the California coast with the hazy sunshine of it's foothills and the cooling breeze of the ocean. Her art education began in junior high. However, none of her advanced degrees are in art.

She returned to art after a twenty year hiatus from painting. In an attempt to make up for lost time, Karen has produced over three hundred pieces of art, has been in upward of four competitions a year, had five solo shows, sold paintings to a gallery owner in Sweden and other collectors (both nationally and internationally) and won prizes at the local level.

Specializing in printmaking, encaustics, and mixed media, Karen digs into alternative ways of working. These techniques often contain computer images which are of her personal paintings or personal photographs.

Karen continues to publish, teach and research her areas of interest: art; health; and educating adults. She donates paintings to help raise scholarship funds for local art students and is an active member of three local art groups.

Karen exhibits at Buenaventura Gallery was a "Studio Tour" Artist with Focus on the Masters, selected as a featured artist for the Ventura Music Festival and is a resident artist with the inkspots (San Buenaventura Printmakers) at 643 Project Space in Ventura, California.
